If you have visited my blog in the last couple of weeks, you will have noticed there are no photos of my sessions. Just a bunch of posts with the same picture saying I need to update my 3rd Party Service provider. For the last 10 years I had been using Photobucket to host my blog photos, because it was free. Yeah yeah I know. Free never stays free. And it didn’t. Overnight, one day in June, Photobucket broke the links for 10’s of millions of photos and sent out word that we had to pay for their highest level of service before they would restore the links. Myself and millions of other long time users were shocked and very upset. So I am now trying to rebuild my blog by uploading the photos again through MyFotoJournal, which hosts my blog. This is what I should have done in the beginning. In the meantime, please visit my Facebook Page for the latest photos. This will take a long time to fix.

Ps here is an updated photo of my little family. This was from the last few days we had with our little dog, Shadow.
I used to play soccer with Ellie’s mom, years ago. It was an honour being asked to photograph her firstborn and her family. Because I travel, with my mobile newborn studio, to my client’s homes I encourage them to have their pets involved in the photos. Ellie’s dog is a rescue dog and was shy with me. I also usually have white noise playing in the background, to mute the sounds that might cause newborns to startle. The sound I use is rain. However, Ellie’s dog was afraid of thunderstorms and the sound app made her think it was a thunderstorm outside. She calmed down when I turned the sound off and gave me some great dog head tilts. And Ellie slept through the whole thing. I think we went through 9 or 10 different set ups, including family and pet/sibling photos. She was the pefect newborn client.
Sweet little Henri made an early arrival into this world. He spent some time in the hospital growing and then I got to meet him to celebrate his 3rd month. With many little preemie babies, growth rates and development milestones are different than full term babies. I was able to some of the things I can normally do with newborn babies with Henri. However he was awake most of the time, so we got photos of his bright blue eyes.
I spent a year with Henri, photographing him as he grew. But one of the growth photos we did was with Henri’s greyhound dog on his bed.
Edmonton’s water levels on the North Saskatchewan river were very low the year I photographed Chandra’s maternity session. It had been a very dry and warm summer. The river was so low that the Edmonton River Queen had to stop sailing. However, the low water level did expose a fabulous rocky spot along the shore that was the perfect backdrop for a sunset maternity session in the Fall. This area has now been named Accidental Beach. It was such a perfect evening! Oh that light! Chandra and her husband welcomed an adorable baby boy shortly before Christmas 2015. Those photos will be on the blog soon.
